This year, International Women’s Day landed right on top of a lot of real‑life gravity for me. I didn’t host a big takeover or a week‑long campaign as I might’ve liked. Instead, I did one tiny, very Radio Herstory thing: I gave our new little yellowhammer a birthday outfit.
To celebrate both International Women’s Day and the second birthday of Cowgirl Radio / Radio Herstory, I designed a limited edition pink version of our new embroidered yellowhammer bird baseball cap. It’s a sister to the light‑blue “Yellowhammer” hat you may soon see on an ULTRA limited-edition collector card, as it’s based on the one I’m wearing in the painting on my forthcoming “b204” early‑era musician baseball card tribute. This edition swaps the blue for a soft pink that nods girlhood, womanhood, and every vivid shade in between.
I’m calling it our International Women’s Day / 2nd Birthday Pink Yellowhammer helm, and like everything else around here, it exists because I’m choosing to keep the station alive on coffee, stubbornness, and love—not a paycheck. I may be behind on a thousand “station director” duties, but a milestone like this is too important to miss, so this year let’s celebrate with something tangible you can wear, hold, and maybe pass-on.
The hats are already live on Footlight Favorites! Our little yellowhammer perched proudly, looking brave, on a soft pink crown, with stitching that mirrors the original oil-painted version. This batch is limited edition and available for a limited time only once they’re gone, I don’t plan to re-release this exact colorway.
